Extra-curricular activities

At Phofs Academy, extracurricular activities are incredibly fundamental. They do improve students' academics, but also they enhance the physical and artistic field performance of students. At Phofs Academy, such activities will lend a hand in expanding students' network to have good social skills and a successful career. We have therefore come up with the following clubs (NB. Parents and students are welcome to suggest more.

Science Club

 

This club is a platform for students to fulfil their quest to do scientific activities they do not have an opportunity to do in class. It aims to promote deep scientific interest, knowledge and skill among students as all the activities will be administered in the most informative, challenging and interactive ways.

 

Activities:

Preparation of mini projects and scientific models by students through the help of educators.

Inter and intra Science fairs and competitions. 

 

 

Technology Club

 

With computers and technology taking over the world, students must deepen their knowledge and interest in these to be ahead. This is about what the technology aims to do, i.e., to introduce students to various computer skills and tools by professionals in the field (computer scientists, IT specialists, computer engineers etc. These computer skills will include: Coding, 3D printing, robotics and basics in information technology

School Newsletter

 

This club will teach students how to compose neatly formatted, concise, and easy-to-read articles. The newsletters will provide parents with essential information and foster a connection between the classroom and home. The newsletters will be informative about competitions and award-winnings, provide a glimpse of the classrooms, give information about other clubs, conduct interviews with teachers and students, raise awareness and many more. The newsletters will be released weekly or monthly, depending on the information shared.

Cooking Club

 

In their kitchen, students will prepare different dishes with the help of a qualified candidate (a chef). The ingredients list will be shared during each meeting for the next session so that students can have enough time to buy and prepare themselves.

During each session, the chef will introduce the dish, give out the recipe, and give students step-by-step guidance until the dish's completion. Students will then send pictures of their dishes to the chef. Students will also be given tips related to all cooking and baking.

Common room

 

This is where we will facilitate social interaction among students. It aims to foster students' connections; there will be teams that will come up with topics to discuss, therefore enhancing students to share their different experiences in life. Topics to be discussed will be given out to the leaders of this room, and students will also be allowed to suggest.

Gaming Club

 

In this club, students will be introduced to various games to help improve their memory and focus, elevate creativity, develop perspective and boost their planning ability.

Games will include chess, puzzles and others. All the games will be competitive and can be downloaded or accessed through the stipulated website.

English Club

 

This club aims to improve students' English eloquence (speaking and writing).

Peer Tutoring or advising club

Peer tutoring is a flexible peer-mediated strategy that involves students serving as academic tutors. It deepens tutors' knowledge of the subjects they teach, sharpening their teaching and public speaking skills.

Community service/volunteering

 

To sharpen students' interpersonal skills, they will engage in community services in the form of volunteering in the areas of their different interests, e.g. hospitals, libraries, orphanages, prisons etc.

Creativity Club

 

This club aims to stimulate interest in creativity and mould students' talents. Students will be introduced to many creative ideas, including art, dance, playing musical instruments, photography and many more.

Worship Society

 

For spiritual growth, students in this club will engage in Bible studies, prayers and singing of worship songs together.

Physical Education Club

 

In this club, we aim to enhance the physical and mental health of the students. Students in suitable apparel will engage in activities like yoga, aerobics, easy-to-do exercises and others with the help of an instructor.
